Determining Mental Health Resource Allocations to Optimize Student Well-Being

6/6/2021

Schools provide a variety of mental health supports for at-risk students who struggle with mental health issues. Results of various student surveys indicate that a high percentage of K-12 students have evidence of significant mental health difficulties including anxiety, mood disorders and suicidal thoughts. These symptoms often are too severe for student support counseling services, and many districts have incorporated on-site, co-located diagnostic and treatment services provided by community mental health clinic personnel. Districts face the challenge of determining the best use of their financial allocations (e.g.,hiring a school counselor or social worker versus helping to subsidize several community mental health practitioners).

This consultation, provided to the Minnetonka, Minnesota school district, outlines how districts can utilize data-driven decisions in order to successfully meet the needs of vulnerable students.

My son is a college student, and that's made things a lot more difficult for his mental state. It makes sense that he might benefit from proper counseling. That seems like a good way to ensure that he gets the help that he needs.

I found it interesting when you said many districts have implemented on-site, co-located diagnosis and treatment services supplied by community mental health clinic workers since these symptoms are frequently too severe for student support counseling services. I used to think differently about it not until you explained it briefly and it really got my attention. What you said about psychiatric services was really interesting to me.

I love that you talked about the importance of taking notice of your mental health to prevent problems. My best friend mentioned to me last night about having mental health consultation because of emotional distress and asked if I have any idea what is the best option to do. Thanks to this informative article I'll be sure to tell him that it will be much better if he consults a trusted mental health resources service as they can answer all his inquiries and will provide proper treatment.

I appreciate how you stressed the significance of paying attention to your mental health in order to avoid issues. Last night, my best buddy brought up the possibility of seeking mental health advice due to emotional strain and questioned my knowledge of the appropriate course of action. Thanks to this insightful article, I'll be sure to advise him that it would be best to seek the advice of a reputable mental health resources provider because they can respond to all of his questions and will offer the right care.
